History rooted in the land of Moselle
The working of anhydrite deposits in the Canner valley started after World War II. Elba, which operated since 1958, was renamed L'Anhydrite Lorraine in 1970 when Knauf Frères (Iphofen) became the sole shareholder. After joining SAMC in 1972, L'Anhydrite Lorraine had a quarry in Helling (till 1977) and another in Koenigsmaker, which was a supplier of the coal mines. When the second quarry was closed down in 1979, the current facility was founded between Kédange and Koenigsmacker. In addition to its mastery of the process and the quality of the product, L'Anhydrite Lorraine is reputed for its ability to respond speedily to customers' needs.
